Rommelsbacher FRH 1700 Hot Air Fryer

The FRH 1700 is a rectangular hot air fryer with an 8-litre baking chamber and 1700 W of power, designed for low-fat frying, roasting, grilling, and baking. It handles up to 1 kg of fries in a single batch, making it suited to families and anyone who wants a versatile countertop cooking appliance for everyday meals and snacks.

Hot Air Convection technology.

The FRH 1700 uses Hot Air Convection to distribute heat evenly throughout the baking chamber. Operation is quiet at 45 dB(A).

Inspection window and interior lighting.

The FRH 1700 has a built-in inspection window with interior lighting, so you can monitor your food during cooking without opening the basket. The light can be switched on and off independently and turns off automatically after one minute.

Touch controls and 10 programmes.

The LED touch panel offers 10 preset programmes: Preheat, French Fries, Grilling/Poultry, Grilling/Meat, Vegetables, Baking, Reheating, Defrosting, Favourite, and Extra. Temperature is adjustable from 60 °C to 200 °C in 5 °C steps, and the timer runs from 1 to 60 minutes. Programme temperature and duration can be customised and saved permanently. Note: the Preheat programme has fixed settings (200 °C, 5 minutes) that cannot be changed. The Defrost programme only allows the run time to be adjusted; temperature cannot be changed.

Shake/turn reminder.

On programmes where shaking or turning improves results (French Fries, Grilling/Poultry, Vegetables, Favourite), an audible signal sounds at the two-thirds mark of the cooking time, and the interior light activates automatically to prompt you to check and shake or turn your food.

Safety features.

The casing is heat-insulated, and the appliance includes overheat protection, an integrated safety switch that pauses cooking when the basket is removed, a release button on the handle, two recessed grips, and non-slip feet. The appliance is designed for household use and similar environments such as staff kitchens, B&Bs, and agricultural holdings. It is not intended for commercial use.

Build and materials.

The housing combines stainless steel and plastic in a black/stainless steel finish. The frying basket and frying rack feature a high-quality 2-layer PTFE non-stick coating. The compact rectangular design is optimised for optimal filling of the baking chamber.

Suitable

The FRH 1700 is designed for air frying, baking, and reheating food. It is suitable for fries, poultry, grilled meat, vegetables, baked goods (cakes, muffins, pastry), fish fingers, mini pizzas, bread rolls, fruit strudel, sausages, slow cooking, dehydrating thinly sliced foods, and defrosting. Temperature is selectable from 60 °C to 200 °C in 5 °C steps on adjustable programmes, covering gentle tasks such as dehydrating (60 °C) and slow cooking (80/90 °C) as described in the manual's cooking guide.

Cleaning

Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the housing and baking chamber with a soft damp cloth (a microfibre cloth works well) with a small amount of washing-up liquid. Clean the frying basket and frying rack by hand with warm water, washing-up liquid, and a soft sponge or brush. For stubborn residue, soak the parts in hot soapy water. The frying basket and frying rack are not dishwasher safe. The silicone spacers on the frying rack can be removed and occasionally cleaned in the dishwasher.

To protect the non-stick coating: do not use metal utensils, knives, abrasive cleaners, oven sprays, or aluminium foil/trays inside the basket or on the rack. Use heat-resistant plastic or wooden utensils instead. Never immerse the base unit in water or clean it with a steam jet.
